Code of Ethics -
• Pups are to be bred from animals which are healthy, of good temperament, proven ability and free from known genetic faults
• Animals are to be properly represented at time of sale
• Written guarantees for the animals health and working ability are encouraged
• Wormed and Vaccinated unless new owner is advised otherwise
• New owners are to be advised on parents’ temperament and appropriate care, training and housing for their new dog.
• Even though working dogs can make excellent pets in the right circumstances, breeders are discouraged from selling dogs to non working homes.
• Pups/dogs must only be sold to suitable homes. Fencing, use, yard size, children and other circumstances must be taken into account before sale.
• Pups and dogs are not to be homed as pets unless their temperament is suitable for such a lifestyle and the new owner is properly advised of their need for exercise, training and stimulation. Dogs not suitable to breed from are also to be desexed before rehoming, or the new owner advised to desex the dog at a more suitable age.
• Breeders are encouraged to take pups back if they prove unsuitable in their new home, with transportation and expenses at cost to the buyer unless mutually arranged or to assist with rehoming to take pressure off the already struggling animal rescues.
The Working Dog Registry is a pedigree recorder and cannot resolve disputes between buyers and breeders. All pedigrees are accepted in good faith and it is assumed that all breeders who use this register are striving to produce the best dogs possible and follow the above guidelines. If you feel you have been ripped off in the purchase of a dog please consult the Department of Fair Trading in your state.
Purpose - To create a pedigree register for working dogs, especially those which are not currently recognized by any controlling body and to encourage responsible and ethical breeding of purpose bred working dogs.
What is Recorded?

Why Record?
Recorded pedigrees do not change a dogs ability. A piece of paper will not make an average dog a better worker or more valuable. They do however allow buyers of pups and dogs to reasearch what bloodlines are available and what combinations produce the results they are after.
In the case of lost or stolen dogs information such as microchip numbers, tattoos, brands, color and markings is easily obtainable and can be provided to help prove ownership.
It is also a tool that can track genetic disease and it offers breeder the chance to provide authentic pedigrees from a third party. These pedigrees can ensure that pups are not misrepresented as being from a breeder when in fact they are not.
Being a registered breeder legitimizes breeders of working dogs and will hopefully be a step towards recognition of Working dog breeders and the valuable contribution they make. It is anticipated that the registry will be an educational tool as well, helping breeders to network and learn of improved practices and issues affecting dogs and dog breeding.
